An apparatus comprising a discharge lamp 104 configured to emit ultraviolet light, a housing encircling the lamp, an air inlet disposed at a lower end of the housing, an air outlet disposed at an upper end of the housing and a cap component 117 disposed above the air outlet to redirect exhaust discharged from the air outlet to a side of the apparatus. Also claimed is an apparatus comprising a discharge lamp configured to emit ultraviolet light, a housing encircling the lamp, a fan 108 disposed below the discharge lamp for drawing air into the housing and an ozone filter 119 disposed above the discharge lamp. The ozone filter may have a width substantially similar to or greater than a width of the interior cavity of the housing. The sidewalls of the housing may be transparent to ultraviolet light.
