<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data carrier prevented from closing the whole area of each of end portion openings of an axial core member which is wound with a long body, and to provide a shaft core member of the long body to which the data carrier is attached. <P>SOLUTION: A data carrier 27 includes a base material sheet, an adhesive layer superposed on the base material sheet, and a data carrier body capable of performing at least any one of recording and reading of predetermined information. The base material sheet has an annular shape having outside edges 271A formed along parts of outer edges of the respective end faces of both end edges of an axial core member 24, and inside edges 271B into which a support shaft 221 to be fittedly inserted in the axial core member 24 can be inserted.
