[Class 46] Pressure- or suction-filter elements are characterized by the provision of supports or pairs of supports for the filter sheets which are detachably inserted, either on a plate or without a plate into the filter, the supports each consisting of a corrugated sheet made wholly or mainly of corrosion-resistant synthetic resin or metal, the corrugations being formed with the walls steep and the depths greater than the widths thereof. A corrugated metal sheet 2, Fig. 1, is supported on a plate 1 and carries a filter sheet 3. In Fig. 2, a plate 1 is arranged between two supporting sheets 2. As shown in Fig. 4, two filter-supporting sheets 2 are used with an intermediate layer of acid-resisting cement 6. In Fig. 5 the corrugations of the supporting sheets 2 are filled and arranged at right angles to one another. In Fig. 8, two filter-supporting sheets 8, each composed wholly of a synthetic material, are arranged with their corrugations at right angles to one another. In other modifications, a corrugated sheet having its underside filled with acid-resisting cement rests on a grid and supports a filter sheet; a single corrugated sheet is covered on both sides by filter sheets; and one of the supporting sheets 8.
