An apparatus and method of dividing a group into sub-groups comprises a plurality of sticks 501-524 each having three attributes 525 applied to the sticks. The three attributes are unrelated and have a different number of values, i.e. quantity of matching attributes within the plurality of sticks. The attributes may be a colour, an alphabetical character, or a graphical symbol. The method comprises the steps of randomly distributing the plurality of sticks to a group of people and then selecting which attribute will be used to divide the group based on the size of sub groups required. Selecting the attribute used to divide the group after the distribution provides minimal predictability as to the makeup of the subgroups as it is still not possible to anticipate a selection even after distribution of the sticks. Each stick may additionally have a unique ordinal number 526 applied thereto. |
