<p>A bite detector for providing an alarm signal indicative of movement of the line of a fishing rod comprising a movement sensor 1002 for detecting movements in the line, an amplitude to frequency converter 1004 for converting the output of the movement sensor into a pulse train having a repetition frequency related to movement sensor output by a transfer function, a tone generator 1006 for generating a series of audio tones whose timing corresponds to the pulse train output by the amplitude to frequency converter, a timing predictor module 1010 for estimating the length of the current pulse, to allow data including the estimated pulse duration to be transmitted to a remote device so as to allow the series of audio tones to be reconstructed at the remove device. A remote monitoring unit for use with the bite detector is also claimed.</p> |
