An objective of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing a long polarizing film having an absorption axis at an angle of 45±15° with respect to a longitudinal direction of the long polarizing film. The method for manufacturing a long polarizing film comprises a process of forming a long polarizing layer having an absorption axis at an angle of 45±15° with respect to a longitudinal direction of a long base material on the long base material. The method for manufacturing a long polarizing film further comprises a process of forming a long alignment layer whose alignment control direction makes an angle of 45±15° with the longitudinal direction of the long base material on the long base material. The process of forming the long alignment layer and the process of forming the long polarizing layer can be performed in the stated order.
