The present invention features anti-SOD1 antibodies and methods of using the antibodies for the treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or the amelioration of symptoms associated with ALS.

An isolated monoclonal antibody, or antigen binding fragment thereof, wherein said monoclonal antibody, or antigen binding fragment thereof, binds to an epitope of SOD1 protein and wherein said monoclonal antibody comprises a heavy chain variable domain and a light chain variable domain, wherein the heavy chain variable domain comprises a CDRH1, CDRH2, and CDRH3, wherein:
(a) the CDRH1 comprises an amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:21; (b) the CDRH2 comprises an amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:23; and (c) the CDRH3 comprises an amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:25; andwherein the light chain variable domain comprises a CDRL1, CDRL2, and CDRL3, wherein:
(d) the CDRL1 comprises an amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 29; (e) the CDRL2 comprises an amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 31; and (f) the CDRL3 comprises an amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 33.
