The present invention relates to a display device and a method for manufacturing the same. The display device includes: a lower substrate; a switching device disposed on the lower substrate; a light emitting structure disposed on the switching device; an encapsulating unit disposed on the light emitting structure; a display panel including a display region and a peripheral region surrounding the display region; an adhesive member disposed on the display panel; a transparent member disposed on the adhesive member; a light-blocking member disposed on the lower surface of the transparent member in the peripheral region; a phase delay layer disposed between the display panel and the adhesive member; and a linear polarizing layer disposed between the adhesive member and the transparent member and partially overlapping the light-blocking member.
