发明名称 Improvements in bearings
摘要 656,992. Bearings. METROPOLITANVICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Jan. 25, 1949, No. 2040. Convention date, March 17, 1948. [Class 12 (i)] A bearing bush of hard metal alloy, such as, cemented tungsten carbide, is connected to the inner or outer member of a bearing by an intermediate member which compensates for the difference of thermal expansion of the bush and of the member to which it is fixed. Where a carbide bushing 14, Fig. 1, mates with a steel housing 12 and is fixed to a steel shaft 11, the greater radial expansion of the latter with respect to the bushing is compensated by a sleeve 15 of low coefficient of expansion metal such as invar. In a modification, an invar sleeve 16, Fig. 3, has radial slots 16a, 16b to permit circumferential expansion, radial expansion being compensated by suitably proportioning the radial thickness of the members. In another modification, Fig. 4, the carbide bushing 21 is mounted with radial clearance on a shaft 17 and between conical steel shoulders 19, 20. In another construction, T-shaped carbide bars 23, Fig. 6, are brazed to a steel shaft 24 and are interspaced by a material, e.g. copper, having a high coefficient of expansion. Similar constructions of each embodiment are shown in which the carbide bushing mates with a steel shaft and is secured to a steel housing in association with an intermediate member, e.g. of copper or aluminium, having a high coefficient of expansion. The embodiment of Fig. 6 may be used in conjunction with its equivalent having an expansion compensated hard metal outer bearing bushing.
