The method involves monitoring clogging of a filter by utilizing a pre-plugging visual indicator whose activation is based on degree of clogging of the filter. A triggering of the pre-plugging visual indicator determined (S1) in case of failure of a differential pressure sensor. The pre-plugging indicator is reset (S2), and an engine of an aircraft is rotated (S3) in a predetermined range to check (S4) if engine speed test is satisfied. A flight of the aircraft is authorized (S11) only when the pre-plugging visual indicator is not initially started. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a system for monitoring an oil filter circuit or a fuel circuit (2) a filtration system.
