PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a needle drop hole of a female needle properly by preventing a hitch stitch. ! SOLUTION: A sewing machine includes: a needle bar 12; a shuttle 13; a sewing machine motor 21; a needle bar rotation mechanism 30 for rotating the needle bar around a shaft center along a vertical direction; a thread pulling-in mechanism 50 for performing pulling-in of a bobbin thread; a movement mechanism 80 for moving a workpiece arbitrarily; and a control unit 90 for controlling the movement mechanism on the basis of sewing data. A sewing needle is a female needle 11 which forms a long-hole shaped needle drop hole on the workpiece. The control unit executes rotation control of the needle bar by the needle bar rotation mechanism according to a cloth movement direction, and forms seams in which stitches continue by each stich having an arbitrary inclination angle with respect to the cloth movement direction of the workpiece.
