When a determination is made that the document sheet C is not in an already transported state (S101: NO, and S106: NO), the CPU31 starts the preparation processing, on the basis of the fact that a reading instruction is accepted, and starts transport operation of a transport section 4, without waiting for completion of the preparation processing. !
