PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and facilities capable of uniformly performing antioxidant treatment of steel material surfaces in order to solve the problem in which a primary scale resulting in a reduction in yield and generation of a steel material surface flaw due thereto is generated on the steel material surfaces in re-heating prior to hot rolling of a steel material in steel manufacturing. ! SOLUTION: There is provide a scale suppression method of a steel material comprising the steps of: applying ceramic sheets containing alumina fiber onto steel material surfaces in a state that a temperature of the steel material surfaces casted is equal to 600°C or more when the steel material having been continuously casted is subjected to re-heating and hot rolling and is manufactured; and subsequently, further re-heating the steel material, and facilities therefor. !
