Provided are: a method that is for producing an optical unit and that can appropriately seal between a lens and a lens holder; and an optical unit. When disposing an elastic seal member (4) around the optical pathway (L0) of the receiving section (76) of the lens holder (7), an annular concavity (77) is formed at the receiving section (76), opens towards a first lens group (11), and is provided with side walls (771, 772) inclined in a manner so as to broaden the opening with at the end side of the opening. Also, after a liquid composition is applied to the region encircling the periphery of the optical pathway (L0) and including the region at which the concavity (77) was formed at the receiving section (76), the liquid composition is cured to form an elastic seal member (4). Afterwards, the first lens group (11) is pressed against the receiving section (76) and is affixed while causing the elastic seal member (4) to be elastically deformed. The elastic seal member (4) comprises a silicone rubber or the like, and can peel from the receiving section (76). |
