PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating cancer in a subject having a BRCA2 mutation that impairs activity of BRCA2, which is a protein encoded by the breast cancer susceptibility genes.SOLUTION: A method for treating cancer in a subject having a BRCA2 mutation that impairs BRCA2 activity comprises administering SNS-595 represented by the pharmaceutical structural formula in the figure in a dose of 10-100 mg/m2. The SNS-595 is administered preferably as an intravenous injection, and administered preferably in combination with at least one other therapeutic agent such as aphidicolin. The method is particularly excellent against breast cancer, ovarian cancer, prostate cancer, or pancreatic cancer.
