<p>An amniotic membrane perforator for rupturing the amniotic sac during childbirth. The amniotic membrane perforator includes a shaft having a proximal end and a distal end, a safety hood, and a sharp. Both the safety hood and the sharp are adjacently connected to the distal end, wherein the sharp is positioned within the safety hood. The shaft has a curvature and design that is optimized for ergonomics and to conform to the shape of the female body. The safety hood is rounded and shaped to allow the membranes to come into contact with the sharp and designed for safety and comfort of the patient. Additionally, the sharp is designed to overcome surface tension and is flush with the hood opposite the shaft as to not inadvertently harm the patient.</p> |
