PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote controller and an air conditioner capable of ensuring extending the battery life while improving display information visibility. ! SOLUTION: A remote controller comprises: a plurality of buttons; a transmission unit transmitting a control signal for controlling equipment; a display unit displaying at least either an equipment set state or a remote controller set state; a backlight illuminating the display unit and capable of being freely turned on and off; and a control unit controlling the buttons, the transmission nits, the display unit, and the backlight, the control unit turning on the backlight for set light-up time set in advance to correspond to the depressed button among the plural buttons. !
