<p>A topical composition having humectant component from about 40% to about 77% by weight of the composition, wherein the humectant component comprises from about 0.25% to about 7% by weight of the composition, of a structuring humectant selected from polyethylene glycols having an average molecular weight of from about 3,000 to about 8,000, and mixtures thereof; and at least one secondary humectant; the topical composition further comprises abrasive from about 5% to about 35% by weight of the composition; from about 0% to about 1.5% by weight of the composition, of a viscosity modifier selected from gums, binders, cellulosic thickeners, and mixtures thereof; a total solids content of 50% or less by weight of the composition; water from about 5% to about 12% by weight of the composition; and wherein the structuring humectant is added to the composition in solution with solvent or is added in a controlled manner as a molten material to the composition at a temperature less than about 35°C and with turbulent mixing or vigorous agitation.</p> |
