PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic switch device for a starter which can exactly detect actual timing at which a pinion and a ring gear abut on each other in a way more excellent in versatility.SOLUTION: An electromagnetic switch device knows a maximum moving time of a first plunger of a pinion extrusion solenoid SL1 by a change of a magnetic flux of a magnetic circuit of a motor energization solenoid SL2. The change of the magnetic flux is caused by the deformation or displacement of a magnetic circuit forming member of the motor energization solenoid SL2 by a collision of a stopper and the first plunger. With this configuration, by previously setting the pinion and the ring gear to abut on or to be engaged with each other at the maximum moving time of the first plunger, a motor can be surely rotated after the timing of the abutment or engagement of the pinion and the ring gear, and an engagement failure between the pinion and the ring gear can be avoided. |
