PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a viewfinder display device of a camera for selectively superposing and displaying predetermined information on a subject image. ! SOLUTION: A viewfinder display device includes a liquid crystal display panel, first driving means to drive the liquid crystal display panel, an illumination light source, and second driving means to drive the light source. The liquid crystal display panel includes a single transparent COM (common) electrode and a plurality of transparent SEG (segment) electrodes formed therein. When a potential difference is induced between the transparent COM electrode and the transparent SEG electrode, the panel is turned into a non-display (transmissive) state, and when a potential difference is not induced, the panel is turned into a display (scattering) state.
