A low ash lubricant composition comprising (a) an oil of lubricating viscosity and (b) a sulfurized aromatic amine compound, wherein the lubricant composition contains no more than 1.2% sulfated ash; wherein the aromatic amine is represented by the formula wherein R1 and R2 are hydrogen or alkyl groups of 1 to 32 carbon atoms, R3 is a linear or branched hydrocarbyl group of 4 to 32 carbon atoms and n is 1 to 2; and wherein the sulfurized aromatic compound is represented by the formula wherein:
x is an integer from 1 to 6;y is an integer from 0 to 6; andz is an integer from 1 to 5. |
