In various embodiments, a system and method for authenticating activity associated with a computer account are disclosed. A user can enter a username, or other form of access information, in a user device. The username can contain a predetermined identifier in response to which, upon detecting the presence of the predetermined identifier, a third-party website can carry out authentication functions including sending a message to an authentication platform that carries out additional authentication functions. Each user device, third-party website and authentication platform can take into consideration, in connection with the authentication process, authentication parameters including one or more a biometric measure, a PIN, an email from the authentication platform to the user, a location of the user device, relationship of the user with a regulated entity, and an identifying feature that uniquely identifies the user device. |
