receiving, at a portable terminal, vehicle information associated with one or more vehicles from an external device corresponding to a transportation stop; selecting a vehicle from the one or more vehicles based at least in part on the vehicle information; and transmitting a signal from the portable terminal to the external device, the signal including an indication to notify the selected vehicle that a user is expected to board the vehicle at the transportation stop.
