This battery module is provided with: a plurality of battery cells having a safety structure; a cell case having a plurality of battery storage parts for respectively housing the plurality of battery cells in a prescribed array; an insulating member arranged to one side of the battery cells; and a duct serving as a path for emitting exhaust gases discharged from the battery cells. The battery storage parts have a plurality of openings for housing the battery cells. The insulating member has through-holes formed at locations facing openings that, of the plurality of openings, are those in which battery cells are housed, and cover parts for covering opening that, of the plurality of openings, are those in which battery cells are not housed. The exhaust gases are discharged to the path of the duct through the through-holes of the insulating member.
