Provided are a negative active material for a lithium secondary battery, a manufacturing method thereof, and a lithium secondary battery including the negative electrode. The negative active material for a lithium secondary battery comprises: a carbon-based active material; and a complex particle located on the surface of the carbon-based active material. The complex particle comprises: a SiO_x (0 < x < 2) particle; and a low crystalline carbon material coating layer for covering the entire surface of the SiO_x (0 < x < 2) particle.
