An information terminal determines, when the device information acquired from a display device agrees with prescribed device information, whether or not a resolution displayable by the display device includes a resolution of an aspect ratio other than the reference aspect used in the transmission of image data, and selects, on the basis of the result of determination, a first resolution of an aspect ratio other than the reference aspect or a second resolution of the reference aspect. Then, the information terminal changes the resolution of the display device to the selected resolution when the device information agrees with the prescribed device information, and changes the resolution of the display device to a recommended resolution for the display device when the device information does not agree with the prescribed device information.
