PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power conversion device capable of accurately detecting a failure symptom of a semiconductor switching element in a power conversion device mounted to a vehicle, and further to provide a failure symptom detection method.SOLUTION: A power conversion device is mounted to a vehicle and converts supplied DC or AC power into AC or DC power on the basis of switching control by a semiconductor switching element. The power conversion device comprises: an acquisition instruction section; a current value acquisition section; and a failure symptom detection section. The acquisition instruction section gives instruction of acquisition of a current value when determining a control state of a vehicle to be a specific operation state on the basis of control state information while acquiring the control state information indicating the control state of the vehicle. The current value acquisition section acquires a value of current flowing through the semiconductor switching element via a current sensor provided in a circuit having the semiconductor switching element when receiving the instruction of acquisition from the acquisition instruction section. |
