摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a negative electrode for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery which enables the manufacturing of a negative electrode hard to cause the delamination of a negative electrode active material layer or the collapse thereof (or highly durable).SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a negative electrode disclosed herein comprises the steps of: (1)preparing a slurry 12 for underlying layer formation which includes a negative electrode active material having a specific surface area S1 of 3-20 m/g, and a slurry 14 for upper layer formation which includes a negative electrode active material having a specific surface area S2 of 2-6 m/g, provided that the specific surface areas S1 and S2 are decided to meet the condition that the ratio (S2/S1) of the area S2 to the area S1 is 0.1-0.9; and (2)forming a negative electrode active material layer composed of an underlying layer and an upper layer by applying the slurry 12 for underlying layer formation onto a negative electrode current collector 1, and further applying the slurry 14 for upper layer formation on the slurry thus applied and then, drying at 100-150°C, provided that the slurry application is performed so that the ratio(T2/TA) of the thickness T2 of the underlying layer to the total thickness TA of the negative electrode active material layer becomes 0.02-0.3.
