PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent quality deterioration of spatial multiplex transmission in uplink in a communication where a base station device performs spatial multiplex transmission with a plurality of terminal devices.SOLUTION: A radio communication system comprises a base station device equipped with a plurality of antenna elements and a plurality of terminal devices, in which the base station device and the terminal devices can perform spatial multiplex transmission on the same frequency and at the same time. The terminal device includes: a transmitting part for transmitting a signal to the base station device; a receiving part for receiving a signal from the base station device; and a communication control part for giving instructions, when the signal received by the receiving part is instructions to reduce the number of subcarriers, to reduce the number of subcarriers used by the transmission part for signal transmission and setting a timer, and giving instructions, when the timer times out, to increase the number of subcarriers used by the transmission part for signal transmission until reaching the predetermined number of subcarriers.
