Towed flying objects (01) are towed through the air on a cable by an aircraft and in the process carry out measurements for, for example, environmental observation and monitoring processes in inaccessible areas, for example in the polar regions. The passive navigation by means of the aircraft is hazardous here, in particular at very low heights and when obstacles arise. Known flying objects (01) are controlled independently at the flying height by means of an automatic flight control system and have an adjustment device of the aerofoils which is retracted into the non-deflected home position in the event of malfunctions occurring. The flying object (01) according to the invention is, in contrast, independently fully manoeuvrable in all three spatial directions and has an aileron (21), a pitch elevator (27) and a stabilizer (28). An automatic flight control system (32) has, in addition to a stabilization module (33) which also serves specifically for avoiding dangerous oscillating motions of the flying object (01) when bringing it in, an avoidance module (34) which operates in the three-dimensional space, and a malfunction system (36) which, in the event of a failure of its power supply owing to a malfunction, moves the aileron, pitch elevator and stabilizer (21, 27, 28) into the non-deflected home position in a purely mechanical fashion and securely locks them there, with the result that the flying object (01) can be brought in without manoeuvring operations. |
