A method and apparatus for operating a touch screen device. The method comprises: detecting a specified trigger event (S102); and when it is detected that the specified trigger event occurs, switching a working mode of the touch screen device between a touch-control panel mode and a touch screen mode, wherein, in the touch-control panel mode, an operation on the touch screen device is simulated as an operation performed by a touch-control panel on the touch screen device (S104). Using the above-mentioned technical solution solves the problems in the related art of a high cost and poor user experience due to the need to add excessive devices and modify a complex system software in a single-handed operation, and thus a perfect single-handed operation experience can be achieved; and, in a single-handed holding mode, the thumb can conveniently operate, and the operations of the left and right hands can be perfectly supported without any set-up. |
