The present invention provides a granulated body for the production of a silicate glass, said granulated body not easily adhering even when heated at high temperatures exceeding 800°C. This method for producing a granulated body is characterized by including a step in which a glass starting composition, which includes an alkali metal source, an alkali earth metal source, and a powdered silicon source as essential components, is mixed with water and is then compression-molded, wherein: the glass starting composition contains, in relation to 100 mass% of a silicate glass that is obtained from the granulated body, at least 50 mass% of a silicon source in terms of oxides, and contains at least 10 mass% in total of an alkali metal source and an alkali earth metal source; the alkali metal source contains an alkali metal carbonate; and D90, which represents the particle size at a cumulative volume of 90% in the particle accumulation curve of the alkali earth metal source, is at most 100 μm. |
