[Problem] To provide a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery having improved energy density. [Solution] This non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery is provided with a cathode having a cathode active material layer, an anode having an anode active material layer, and an electrolyte layer having an electrolyte containing a non-aqueous solvent, wherein the cathode active material layer and/or the anode active material layer contains an electrolyte material that is for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery and that has: a core section containing an electrolyte active material; and a shell section resulting from a conductive material being contained in a substrate comprising a gel-forming polymer of which the liquid absorption rate with respect to the electrolyte is 10-200%.
