PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a feeding device allowing a detection member to easily change an attitude at the time of insertion of a sheet while reliably holding the attitude of the detection member in a sheet-less state, and further to provide a recording device. ! SOLUTION: A medium feeding device includes: a medium supporting member forming a supporting surface supporting a medium; and medium detection means which is provided with a swing member having a leading end portion advancing and retreating with respect to the medium supporting member by swinging around a swing shaft and bias means biasing the swing member in a swing direction where the leading end portion is moved toward the medium supporting member, and detects whether or not the medium is on the supporting surface in accordance with a state of the swing member.
