An information processing apparatus displays data that is saved by an external information processing apparatus, identifies an image forming device by short-range wireless communication, and acquires compatibility information indicating whether or not the image forming device is compatible with a print method for acquiring the data from the external information processing apparatus and printing based on the data. An information processing apparatus transmits instructional information for acquiring the data designated by a user from the external information processing apparatus and printing based on the data to the image forming device, if the compatibility information indicates that the image forming device is compatible with the print method.

a display unit configured to display data that is saved by an external information processing apparatus; an identification unit configured to identify an image forming device by short-range wireless communication; an acquisition unit configured to acquire, from the image forming device, compatibility information indicating whether or not the image forming device is compatible with a print method for acquiring the data from the external information processing apparatus and printing based on the data; and a transmission unit configured to transmit, to the image forming device, instructional information for acquiring the data designated by a user from the external information processing apparatus and printing based on the data, if the compatibility information indicates that the image forming device is compatible with the print method.
