PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb structure capable of improving the strength of a partition wall and effectively preventing erosion.SOLUTION: There is provided a honeycomb structure 100 which comprises a cylindrical honeycomb substrate 10 having a porous partition wall 1 for defining and forming a plurality of cells 2 extending from a first end surface 11 serving as a fluid passage to a second end surface 12 and a porous surface layer 13 which is disposed on the partition wall 1 of the honeycomb substrate 10 and composed of a material different from that of the partition wall 1, wherein the surface layer 13 is composed of any one of materials of an oxide, a nitride and a carbide. |
