<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-washing tank holding type membrane filter apparatus capable of certainly eliminating non-uniform fouling having being generated between respective membrane modules without scaling up an apparatus body and increasing the power load. <P>SOLUTION: This membrane filter apparatus 1 includes a return/drain tank 2, a washing water tank 3 and a backwashing metering tank 4 arranged to the central part of the apparatus. The return/drain tank 2, the washing water tank 3 and the backwashing metering tank 4 are integrally formed from below to above in this order. The bottom part of the backwashing metering tank 4 has an opening 4a, and the washing water tank 3 and the backwashing metering tank 4 communicate with each other through the bottom parts of them. A raw water supply block 5 is arranged to the lower part of the membrane filter apparatus 1 and a membrane filtered water collecting block 6 is arranged to the upper part of the membrane filter apparatus 1 while a plurality of membrane modules 7 are interposed between the outer side end part of the raw water supply block 5 and the outer side end part of the membrane filtered water collecting block 6.
