An image synthesis section 24 forms a plurality of candidates of a synthetic image 200 by defining an intersection of a boundary surface being parallel with the virtual glance G<SB POS="POST">0</SB>and being separated by a predetermined distance and the projection screen as a boundary B for each projection screen and projecting a rear image A<SB POS="POST">R</SB>, a left rear-side image A<SB POS="POST">RL</SB>and a right rear-side image A<SB POS="POST">RR</SB>on the projection screen. An image evaluation section 26 evaluates the displacement of an edge of an object on the boundary B in the synthetic image 200 for each synthetic image 200. An image selection section 28 selects the synthetic image 200 with the least displacement among the synthetic images 200.
