<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for purifying exhaust gas containing calcium ferrite as a catalyst component and having improved catalytic activity, and to provide a method for producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The catalyst for purifying exhaust gas includes calcium ferrite having a specific surface area of 10 m<SP POS="POST">2</SP>/g or more, and no other diffraction peaks than Ca<SB POS="POST">2</SB>Fe<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O<SB POS="POST">5</SB>are not observed in X-ray diffraction with CuKα rays of the calcium ferrite. The method for producing the catalyst for purifying exhaust gas includes steps of (a) forming a precipitate from a solution containing a calcium salt, (b) forming a precipitate from a solution containing an iron salt, (c) forming a precipitated mixture by mixing the solution containing the precipitate of the step (a) and the solution containing the precipitate of the step (b), and (d) generating the calcium ferrite having the composition of Ca<SB POS="POST">2</SB>Fe<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O<SB POS="POST">5</SB>by drying and burning the precipitated mixture. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
