<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of performing access control of a storage device having wide space for objects in a shared file system. <P>SOLUTION: A shared file system includes: a meta data server having a mechanism for, when a client makes access to a storage, notifying the client of the access range and size of the storage, and for notifying the storage of an access control key for identifying the access range and the client; and a storage device holding a reverse table for storing the access range inside the storage, and having a mechanism for checking the access range of the client from the correspondence chart of the access control key and a host identifier for identifying the client so as to determine whether or not to permit the execution of the IO of the client.
