<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing device capable of switching preload continuously or in a stepwise fashion as necessary while enhancing stiffness of the whole system, without making the axial length longer, and capable of maintaining superior bearing rotation accuracy, and to provide a rotary table of a machine tool and a spindle device provided with the bearing device. <P>SOLUTION: The bearing device includes a pair of angular bearings 24 having a contact angleα, and a sleeve 30 having a pressure chamber 35 formed therein, the pressure chamber being fitted to the outer peripheral face 22a of an outer ring 22 and supplying pressured fluid.
