Charger and electronic apparatus system

A charger 10 for charging an electronic apparatus 40 through a Universal Serial Bus (USB) has a charger main body 20 and a connection unit 30. The connection unit 30 contains parts of the negative and positive charging paths and at least one signal line between the positive and negative charging paths. The negative charging path has a larger area than the positive charging path and is more capable of dissipating heat. A temperature sensor 31 is provided in the vicinity of the positive charging path, and so can better detect temperature changes. A control unit receives temperature information from the temperature sensor 31 through the signal line and stops the supply of charging current if the temperature is too high. The charging current remains stopped until external power AC to the charger main body 20 is removed.
