A sub-module 200 for a power converter module comprises a busbar 102 having a busbar terminal 114, a converter component 104, 106 having a component terminal (110, 118, fig. 2) and a flexible connector 202 coupled to the busbar terminal and the component terminal to form an electrical connection. The connector extends along a first axis between the busbar terminal and the component terminal. The connector is flexible so that there is at least one degree of freedom between the busbar terminal and the component terminal. The converter component may be a switching element e.g. IGBT 106, or an energy storage element, e.g. capacitor 104. The connector may be extendible and compressible along the first axis. The connector may be in the form of a spring or bellows. The sub-module may be part of a voltage source converter used for HVDC electrical power transmission. |
