<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an olivine-type active material achieving high electron conductivity and large battery capacity as a positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery. <P>SOLUTION: The active material contains particles of average composition represented by Li<SB POS="POST">w</SB>Mn<SB POS="POST">x</SB>Fe<SB POS="POST">y</SB>M<SB POS="POST">z</SB>PO<SB POS="POST">4</SB>, where M represents one or more kinds of elements selected from Mg, Ti, V, Cr, Co, Ni, Cu, and Zn, 0<w≤1, 0.5≤x≤0.95, 0≤y≤0.5, 0≤z≤0.5, and x+y+z=1. A segregation phase of different composition exists in the particles of the average composition, the mole fractions of Mn, Fe, M, and O in the segregation phase satisfyβ/(α+β+γ)>y orγ/(α+β+γ)>z, and (α+β+γ)/σ≥0.25, whereα,β,γ, andσrepresent the numbers of moles of Mn, Fe, M, and O in the segregation phase, respectively. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
