A road haulage vehicle has a tractor unit 808 coupled to a trailer unit 810, and various aerodynamic features. One feature of tractor 808 is a roof fairing 8112 and a side fairing 8114, with side fairing 8114 comprising a plurality of vortex generators 8116, each defining a duct having a neck 8118 and a wider region 8120 towards a rearward end of side fairing 8114; in particular each duct may be wishbone-shaped. Suitably a base of each duct can be parallel to the side of the cab, or can be sloped inwardly towards the side of the cab or of trailer 810. Vortex generators 8116 may be integrally formed on substantially the whole length of a planar region of side fairing, and may protrude by between 20 mm and 40 mm. Vortex generators may also be provided on roof fairing 8112. Another disclosed aerodynamic feature is an air guide (130, Figure 3) overhanging and increasing the height of the front end (128, Figure 1) of the trailer and curved downwards to a smooth transition with the trailer roof at the rear end of the air guide. |
