Systems and methods are presented for providing mobile alerts to members of a social network upon the occurrence of certain trigger events related to the social network, including member-trigger events, venue-trigger events, and other-trigger events. A member may select and edit their own mobile-alert settings that determine which events are trigger events. The member may enable or disable all their mobile alerts using a single action, such as toggling a digital button on their phone screen. A data processor receives indication of, or determines occurrence of, a trigger event. The data processor then determines whether to communicate a mobile alert to the member based on the member's mobile-alert settings. The alert may be communicated to the member's mobile communication device, such as a mobile phone, using a variety of convenient means, such as a text message or Push Notification. |

a processor; and a mobile communication unit configured to communicate with one or more mobile devices via a telecommunication network; and a memory storage unit configured to store instructions, which when executed by the processor, cause the system to perform operations to,
receive login credentials sent from a first mobile device, wherein the login credentials are for a first member account subscribed to a social-networking service,log in the first member account using the login credentials,determine a geographic location of the first mobile device,determine, based on the geographic location of the first mobile device, that the first mobile device is at a physical place of business,determine that a second mobile device is located at the physical place of business, wherein the second mobile device is associated with a second member account subscribed to the social-networking service,receive a first image recorded by the first mobile device at the physical place of business, wherein the first image depicts a first individual,analyze a physical appearance of the first individual in the first image,determine, from analysis of the first image, that the first individual performs an action directed toward a second individual while at the physical place of business,access mobile-alert settings from the first member account,determine that the mobile-alert settings indicate that the first member account is to be notified when the first individual performs the action directed toward the second individual, andalert the first mobile device based on the mobile-alert settings after determining that the first individual performs the action directed toward the second individual. |
