摘要 A cutting insert having an upper surface, a lower surface, a side surface with a first side surface and a second side surface which are connected to each of the upper and lower surfaces, and are adjacent to each other is provided. The insert includes a cutting edge having a major cutting edge located along an intersection of the upper surface and the first side surface, and a minor cutting edge lying along an intersection of the first side surface and the second side surface. The first side surface includes a first constraining surface located at a middle region in a thickness direction of the first side surface, and a rake surface which is located recessed between the first constraining surface and the major cutting edge. A distance between the major cutting edge and the first constraining surface is increased toward the minor cutting edge in a side view.
