摘要 A mobile terminal receives, over a first cell configured on a carrier frequency, at least one parameter associated with a second cell configured on a carrier frequency. The at least one parameter comprises a cell identity. The mobile terminal then derives at least one physical layer characteristic for the second cell based on the received at least one parameter. Thereby, the mobile terminal is able to receive transmissions over the second cell, even if it could not initially detect the presence of the cell.

A method in a user equipment, the method comprising: receiving, over a first cell configured on a carrier frequency, a request to add a second cell as a secondary cell (SCell) for carrier aggregation, the second cell being configured on the same or another carrier frequency, the request comprising parameters associated with the second cell, wherein the parameters comprise a cell identity and a number of transmit antenna ports associated with the second cell; deriving at least one physical layer characteristic that is required to establish communication with the second cell based on the received parameters, thereby enabling the user equipment to receive data transmissions over the second cell without receiving the number of transmit antenna ports from the second cell; and once communication is established with the second cell using the at least one physical layer characteristic, performing carrier aggregation of data transmissions received over the first cell and the second cell, with the first cell as a primary cell (PCell) and the second cell as the SCell; wherein the parameters are received in a dedicated message to the user equipment.
