Class 120(iii) [Also in Group XXVI] Lint is removed from substantially the full length of the underframe 1, Fig. 1, of a textile machine by continuously directing air under pressure outwardly from within and against successive portions of the underframe. The pressure air source may comprise centrifugal fans 15, Fig. 6, mounted at the ends of a cylindrical casing A and rotated in opposite directions by a motor 17 through shafts 28, 40 so as to draw air through inlets 12 and deliver through side vents 11 in housing 10 continuously rotated by the motor 17 (see Group XXVI). The unit is reciprocated along a track 20 located within the underframe by a roller 18 driven from the motor shaft 28 through a worm 31, a gear 32, a shaft 33 and gear 43, Fig. 7, secured thereto and engaging one of a pair of gears 47 carried by a pivoted spider 45, the other gear 47 constantly meshing with a gear 46 which drives the roller 18 through gears 49, 50, 51. On reaching the end of the track a lever 52 is tripped and the spider rocked to disengage the first gear 47 and to mesh a third gear 47 also carried by the spider with the gear 43 thus effecting reversal of the unit. In a modification the fan casings 180, Fig. 18, are given a step-by-step rotation by the engagement of a serration of an end ring 184 with a stationary finger 187 at whichever end of the track the unit finds itself. In a further modification a fan 62, Fig. 9, delivers through nozzles 60 inclined to the axis of the unit and are rotated thereabout by a cable 79 engaging sheaves 74 as reciprocation proceeds. In a further modification a fan 149, Fig. 15, drawing air at the end of a tube 140 extending beneath the frame is driven from the tape driving drum through a pulley 152 and delivers through a nozzle 155 projecting into an elongated opening 141 in the tube 140; the tube 140 and nozzle 155 being rotated by a cable driven sheave 146, and the nozzle being reciprocated by a stationary helical groove drive 157. The front of the slot 141 not occupied by the nozzle 155 is sealed by a rubber curtain 145.
