According to the present invention, a gear cutting attachment (1) comprises: a cutter (6) where a gear cutting blade is formed on a circumference; and a transmission device (7) transmitting rotation of a main shaft (2) of a universal machine tool to the cutter (6). A reference axis line (L1) of a case (5) is positioned on the center of the main shaft. The cutter (6) is rotationally supported by the case (5) around a rotation axis line (L2) perpendicular to the reference axis line (L1). The transmission device (7) changes a direction of the rotation axis to transmit rotation of the main shaft (2) to the cutter (6).
